Two UK Steampunk Events

We are now all back safe and sound from the soiree. We all had a fantastic time, many thanks to everyone who came and especially to our wonderful bands Sunday Driver, Ghostfire, and the delectable Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing. In the next couple of weeks, we will be putting up photos and videos from the event, but until then there is good news for all of you in London as two of the bands from the soiree will be playing a gig in January.

Now for the details.

The London Steampunk Spectacular

23rd January 2010

@ The Cross Kings, 126 York Way, Kings Cross, London, N10AX

Doors 7.30pm

Adm £5

As the Uk’s Steampunk scene continues to gather momentum, the Cross Kings hosts a night of live Steampunk music, dancing and cabaret featuring:

The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing-

a scuzzy, down at heel, Victorian Punk Rock band from old London Town fronted by comedian Andrew O’Neill and Andy from legendarily terrifying 90s thrash-goths Creaming Jesus and Giant Paw….and featuring Ben Dawson (Million Dead/Mothlite) on drums.

Their name is a reference to the chalked graffiti discovered above a section of blood-stained apron thought to have been discarded by Jack the Ripper as he fled the scene of Catherine Eddowes’ murder. They describe themselves as “Crusty punk meets cockney sing-songs meets grindcore in the 1880s.”

in true DIY steampunk style, The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing will be raffling off a steampunk Raygun made by Weta at the gig in an attempt to raise some tin to release their debut album, which they are recording at Part Chimp’s studio in Camberwell.
the tickets will be £2 each, and the prize, one of these magnificent beasts.

Ghostfire –
fresh from playing London’s comic Expo, and Club Antichrist’s Steampunk night, the evening will also serve as the launch party for Ghostfire’s new single, ‘The Last Steampunk Waltz’, which knocked them all dead at the Uk Steampunk weekender, Asylum, in September. This will be the first chance to buy copies.

Saville Row

and a special appearance by author Robert Rankin.

  1. Just so you know, your first Men That Will Be Blamed For Nothing link is broken.

Also, I find myself yet again wishing that I lived in the UK. Tell these lovely bands that they need to come over to this side of the Atlantic!

  2. Thanks very much for letting me know.

    Should be fixed now!
