Greetings fellow SteamPunks and inventor/adventurers in the northwest OH/Detroit area! The Toledo Steam & Pneumatic Collective is open for new collective members to become involved in our exciting projects and skillshares for the spring and summer season. We are located at the Black Cherry InfoShop at 1420 Cherry St Toledo OH (www.myspace.com/blackcherrytoledo) and our current major project is constructing a wood-gasified monotube flash boiler with a 10hp compound condensing stationary steam engine system running an electric generator which will work in combination with a vertical axis wind generator array on the roof. We have plans, literature, tools and skills for this project, which will also include a classified subproject leading up to and gaining the skills for the engine construction. Any interested parties should live close enough to Toledo to be able to get together offline and should contact us as soon as possible at either nodoubtinfo@gmail.com or by telephone at

RAdical 0-7305 in the 419 exchange

(419-720-7305 for those unfamiliar with obsolete telephone number formats). If you call by telephone, just ask for Wesley.

We are looking at working on not only steampunk tech mods (computers, guitar amps, cell-phones, etc) and art-furniture, but also to re-institute local DIY cottage industry in the manufacturing areas for live steam and pneumatic technology and have the facilities to achieve this, now we just need folks interested in getting in on the ground floor.

Though we are talking about cottage industry, those already involved are anarchist, anti-authoritarian, anti-racist and anti-capitalist so we're actively working at NOT recreating the current "corporate" model of "business" and "industry" hence the "DIY" prefixing the statement. All of our original designs (of which there are LOTS) are licensed under a creative commons license which will restrict usage of our designs on a mass (corporate) scale and are only available as a hardcopy (no online posts of technical diagrammes) to allow folks to experiment on a small scale without worry. Fair warning to all the hot-topic st33m-punx capitalists and robber-barons of the future out there. We're hard working, steel welding, bolt wrenching, schematic drawing proles with a taste for Victorian industrial elegance who don't like the idea of "bosses" and don't have much room for "wet steam" folks

We need folks of all applicable skills:
Welding
Brazing and pipefitting
belt/pulley layouts
engine mechanics
bicycle mechanics
bicycle frame welders
pneumatic engineers
steam engineers
drafting and diagramming

If you have these skills (to any degree) or related equipment and can share them, then you should call us post-haste. However, it is not necessary to have any skills to be able to learn them, so if any of this sounds interesting or you just want to hang out with other NWOH/Detroit area SteamPunks then get in touch with us.

Also, the Black Cherry is a DIY performance space, so if anyone knows any SteamPunk bands or groups that they would like to see play in the area, then also get in touch with us through the myspace page (www.myspace.com/blackcherrytoledo) for booking shows and events. Our event schedule is also listed on the myspace page.

We also have an inordinate amount of technical books on steam engineering, pneumatic engineering, airship design and construction, and line-shaft machine shop design and theory which are available at our space. We also have designs for several contraptions of interest to adventurous Steampunks such as a gyrocopter, hovercraft, diwheel, monowheel, etc. Please contact us for a list of titles, and formats. We have electronic copies of all of our technical books, which we will share for free (via email), and we custom print and bind hardcopies of any of our books to order for a small donation. (That means we can print and bind you up a Steampunk themed hardcover copy of any technical manual we carry based on YOUR design!)

Hope to hear from you soon!

In Steam-Powered Solidarity!
Wesley from the Steam Collective
